Tokoname, the familiar style
Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture is one of the "Six Ancient Kilns of Japan." Though actually, Tokoname has many different operating kilns in its region. After WWII, Tokoname became known for the classic round-faced Neko, usually holding a koban (Edo era coin).

American-style maneki neko, a twist on the usual Tokoname Neko. Its raised paw is facing palm in and the coin is round with a dollar symbol. It also features blue eyes.
